The Tech Talk Workshops for Parents and Families
Program Objective
Support parents and families in building healthier digital habits by helping them understand internet privacy, online safety, and how to have positive, ongoing conversations with their children about technology.
Engagement Overview
Fareedah partnered with Mozilla Firefox and the New York State PTA to deliver parent and family education workshops as part of Mozilla’s broader initiative, The Tech Talk.
The initial workshop was delivered in person in Albany, New York, where it received strong attendance and engagement. Due to high demand and positive feedback, the workshop was later repeated as a virtual webinar to reach a wider audience of families.
Across both sessions, participants consistently described the workshop as highly engaging, practical, and one of the most valuable sessions they attended.
Workshop Content Focus
The sessions explored:
What internet privacy and online safety mean in everyday life
How to integrate privacy and safety habits into daily routines
Why privacy and safety help set children up for long-term success
How to talk to kids about technology in age-appropriate ways
How to have more positive and less awkward tech conversations
Actionable tips parents could immediately apply at home
Educational Resources Developed
As part of the engagement, Fareedah developed a one-page parental resource aligned with Mozilla’s The Tech Talk campaign.
The resource was designed to:
Reinforce key workshop concepts
Give parents a simple takeaway they could reference later
Support continued conversations about privacy and safety at home
